Your Couples Counselors

Daniela Zambrana and Chris Spicer

Your Online Couples Counselors Daniela and Chris

In our work we focus on relational dynamics for individuals and couples. As a counselor couple ourselves, we see ourselves as role models, demonstrating (in our own imperfect, but aware way), strategies for more effective interpersonal communication and interaction.

Our goals in couples counseling include:

  • to help you regain trust in your partner and your relationship and therefore enhancing communication towards a deeper connection.
  • to help you learn “the art of agreeing to disagree”.
  • to teach you how to get out of the blaming spiral and instead appreciate and respect the differences your partner brings to you.
  • to teach you how to have “a good (and pleasurable!) fight”.
  • to accompany you in building awareness of your blind spots and toxic behavioral patterns as well as self-defeating dynamics.
  • to remind you that an essential ingredient of being in connection is to practice empathy for one another.
  • to understand that an important part of being in relationship means learning to allow, experience and be present with the discomfort of things not being “fixed”.
  • to provide a guide if you feel lost in your relationship to find yourself and your partner again.
  • to support you in developing attitudes and skills to work through crisis and thus gaining more groundedness and stability in your relationship.
  • to provide couples exercises that help you express your conscious and unconscious needs and desires.
  • to teach you how to recognize body signals (sensations, contractions, etc.) that inform you how you are stuck or having strong reactive feelings (Fight/Flight/Freeze States of the autonomic nervous system).
  • to help you to transcend challenges by opening to fun, pleasure and humor.
  • supporting your integration of emotional intelligence, empathy, and sexuality as essential and mutually reliant elements of intimacy.
  • to lead you to a shift/decision point for fundamental change that you alone have to make.
Relationship Counseling to help your learn the art of agreeing to disagree
Relationship Counseling to help you express your needs and feelings
Our commitment is to meet you in mutual integrity with emphasis on maintaining a safe and confidential container for you to take the risk you need to deepen your growth. We keep you in the driver seat and act in service to you. In the end, this work is sacred for us and we commit to honor your journey with our heart.

What’s the value added in having two counselors supporting you?

Drawing from the many years of experience each of us brings in counseling / coaching with individuals, groups and couples, we are convinced of the advantages of working with a co-therapist.
Our clients benefit greatly from:
  • the different background, experiences and perspectives we each bring,
  • the more holistic support of having two sets of eyes to reflect on and assess the work as it proceeds,
  • having one person to be directly engaged while the other “holds the space”,
  • reduced risk of the therapists taking sides or forming triggering counselor/one-client alliances,
  • and yet the possibility of each partner having their own support person,
  • a “synergistic couple identity” we create as co-therapists, which can provide inspiration or example for couples to draw from.
